MISSISSIPPI BAIL BOND FAQ

Questions about bail?
Start here.

Bail can feel confusing, especially when time matters. These clear answers will help you understand what happens next and what Liberty needs to begin.

01 Getting Started

What should I do first if someone has been arrested?

Call Liberty Bail Bonds at 601-LIBERTY. If possible, have the person’s full legal name, date of birth, jail or county, charges, and bond amount. If you do not have every detail, call anyway—we can help you determine the next step.

How quickly can someone be released from jail?

We can begin the bond process as soon as the bond is available and the required paperwork is complete. The jail controls the final release, so timing varies by facility, staffing, court processing, and the details of the arrest.

Can the paperwork be completed remotely?

Many situations can be started by phone, text, or electronically. An agent will explain what identification, signatures, payment, or in-person steps are required for the specific bond.

02 Cost & Payment

How much does a bail bond cost in Mississippi?

Many bail bonds are estimated at 10% of the total bond amount. The exact premium, fees, and requirements depend on the bond and the circumstances. Our bail calculator provides an estimate; call an agent for the exact amount before making plans.

Do you offer payment plans?

Payment plans may be available depending on the bond amount, qualifications, and required security. Call 601-LIBERTY so an agent can review the options with you privately.

Can Liberty handle large bonds over $100,000?

Yes. Liberty has experience with large and complex bonds. These cases may require additional documentation, qualified co-signers, or collateral, so contacting an agent early is important.

Is the bail bond premium refundable?

The premium is generally earned for posting the bond and is typically nonrefundable once that service has been provided. Your written agreement explains the exact terms, so ask your agent any questions before signing.

03 Responsibilities

What does a co-signer agree to do?

A co-signer agrees to help ensure the defendant appears in court, stays in contact, and follows the bond agreement. The co-signer may also accept financial responsibility if the agreement is broken. We explain the terms before anyone signs.

Will collateral be required?

Not every bond requires collateral. Depending on the bond amount and risk, property, vehicles, or other assets may be requested as security. An agent will explain what is needed and why.

What happens if the defendant misses court?

Contact Liberty and the defendant’s attorney immediately—do not wait. The court may issue a warrant and the bond may be forfeited. Acting quickly gives everyone the best chance to address the missed appearance properly.

04 Check-In & Service

How does weekly check-in work?

Follow the check-in schedule and instructions given by your agent. When online check-in is permitted, use our Weekly Check-In page. Keep your contact information current and call us if you are unsure whether your check-in was received.

What areas does Liberty Bail Bonds serve?

We serve Jackson, Brandon, Madison, Hinds County, Rankin County, and surrounding communities throughout Central Mississippi. If the arrest occurred outside these areas, call us—we may still be able to help or direct you to the right resource.

Are agents really available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Arrests do not follow business hours, so Liberty is available day and night, including weekends and holidays. Call 601-LIBERTY whenever you need help.
